These works were done by Warsoldier at Tehachapi State Prison
Studio while he was a clerk for the Arts In Prison Program.
Included in this series are the sweatlodge pencil drawings I
drew from what I saw during our sweatlodge ceremonies, giving
you a view of what we experienced while doing our ceremony behind
prison barbed wire.
For the last thirty years several of our incarcerated Indian
Leaders have fought the good battle to get our rights for religious/ceremonial
practices.
Several of our leaders were singled out and killed because of
this resistance.
We honor them each time we do these ceremonies for their sacrifices
we were victorious.CONTINUE
